PROJECT ECONOMICS & INVESTMENT ANALYSIS

Understand value and risk before you commit capital.

We independently analyze the economics of mining projects and acquisitions, showing what drives value, how risks affect returns and which options justify your capital.
BEHIND THE INVESTMENT CASE
An attractive investment case can rest on optimistic assumptions. Understand what drives value, how risks interact and whether another option offers a better use of capital.
Value.
What is the asset really worth?
Understand the cash flows behind the valuation, the assumptions driving returns and the opportunities to create additional value.
Assumptions.
Do the assumptions hold up?
Assess whether production, cost, schedule and infrastructure assumptions are credible, consistent and supported by evidence.
Risk.
What could change the outcome?
See how interacting risks affect value, timing and funding needs, and which mitigation options strengthen the investment case.
Capital.
Which option deserves investment?
Compare projects, acquisitions and expansions against your strategic priorities, available capital and the value of alternatives.

ENGAGEMENTS IN DETAIL

How we turn evidence into investment advice.

Each engagement addresses a defined investment decision. We examine the evidence, test the economics and explain what the findings mean for your next step.
Economics and Model Review
01
A model can calculate correctly and still rest on assumptions that weaken the investment case. We examine the calculations, evidence and risks that matter most, then explain whether the economics support your proposed decision.

The Integrated Project and Investment Risk Assessment examines how risks interact and affect value, cash flow, funding and delivery. We screen six dimensions for relevant risks, then investigate material exposures to an agreed depth. Using qualitative assessment, scenario analysis or simulation where justified, we assess downside exposure, compare mitigation options and explain the implications for your investment decision.
Your risk picture

FAQ

What to expect from Minesmart

Choosing the right engagement starts with your decision. These answers explain our services, the information we need, and how scope, delivery and fees work.
Which engagement is right for my decision?

An Economics and Model Review tests an existing model and its material assumptions. A Financial Model Build or Upgrade creates or improves the model. An Investment and Acquisition Assessment evaluates projects, expansions or acquisitions. Sector and Corridor Investment Analysis compares mining and infrastructure options. Each can be commissioned independently around your decision.

An Investment and Acquisition Assessment evaluates projects, expansions or acquisitions. Sector and Corridor Investment Analysis compares mining and infrastructure options. What information do you need to get started?

We start with your decision, deadline and available evidence. Depending on scope, inputs may include an unlocked model, technical studies, production forecasts, cost estimates, schedules, infrastructure assumptions, transaction terms or sector datasets. We identify material gaps early and agree how to address them, including specialist input where needed.

How do you assess assumptions and investment risk?

We challenge material assumptions against project evidence and relevant benchmarks, with specialists where needed. Risk assessment can be included within an engagement or commissioned separately. We screen six dimensions and assess relevant exposures through qualitative assessment, sensitivities or downside scenarios. Monte Carlo simulation is used when evidence, expertise and the decision justify it.

Can owners, acquirers or capital providers commission an independent review?

Yes. Owners, acquirers and capital providers can commission a review directly. We assess conflicts, prior involvement and model authorship before accepting the mandate. We do not accept success fees, equity, warrants or transaction-linked compensation. An independent review of a model we built must be performed by a separate provider.

How are scope, timing and fees agreed?

We first clarify your decision, available evidence and deadline, then propose the scope, deliverables, timetable and fee. Pricing reflects complexity, specialist input and review requirements. We prefer fixed or phased fees for defined assignments. Additional assets, model versions or changed requirements are agreed and priced before the scope expands.
